Men's Tennis Edged by Nevada on the Road

Reno, NV – The Saint Mary's men's tennis team was unable to earn the road win Saturday afternoon, as they were defeated by the Nevada Wolfpack, 4-3. Unusual conditions may have given Nevada the advantage in the match, as the Gaels were not accustomed to the high altitude and fast court surface of the indoor facility.
After earning the doubles point to start the match, Saint Mary's struggled on courts one through three in singles, taking the loss in all three positions. At the four spot, Andrea Zannoni started things off with an easy 6-2, 6-4 win over Augustin Myard. Yousef El Bouzkouri also tabbed a victory, defeating Benjamin David on court five, 6-2, 6-3. The deciding match was put on the shoulders Steven Dawson-Roberts, as the freshman battled in a three-set match at the No. 6 position. After winning the first set 7-5, Dawson-Roberts was unable to hold off his opponent, falling 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles the Gaels won their matches on court one and two. Gavin Leon and Gerald Ellison posted a convincing win at the three position, taking down Benjamin David and Gabe Kanzelmeyer, 8-2. The one spot was filled by Lucas Tirelli and Mike Luck, as they defeated Laurent Garcin and Augustin Myard.
Saint Mary's will return to action at the Korth Tennis Complex, hosting Pacific in a rescheduled match set for April 1 at 3:00 PM.
