Men's basketball defeated Cal Poly 59-54, improving to 5-1 on the season. Women's basketball added another victory on their season against Cal Poly 65-62, winning their second-straight game.
The most successful postseason run in Saint Mary's history for the men's soccer team ended at Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill. North Carolina scored two second-half goals to upset the Gaels, as they were unable to get off a goal. The team ended its season with an 11-7-5 record, winning the first West Coast Conference championship in program history and the most postseason wins ever for any Gaels sports team. This game marked the final chapter for eight seniors and junior Patrick Wilson, while the remaining players look forward to another season next year.
Men's basketball beat Cal Poly for the first time ever at Mott Gymnasium, scraping out a 59-54 victory. Redshirt freshman Brad Waldow scored a career-high 13 points, while senior Rob Jones had his sixth double-double, 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Gaels will host Jackson State on December 15 at 7 p.m. in McKeon Pavilion.
Women's basketball secured their win over Cal Poly with a close 65-62 victory. Jasmine Smith scored a game-high 19 points, four rebounds, and a steal. Alex Carbonel and Danielle Mauldin each added 12 points, with Mauldin 8 of her 12 in the second half. The team returns to action on Thursday, December 8 when they host California at 7 p.m. at McKeon Pavilion.
