Mark Oshidari Bio

Mark Oshidari was named Associate Director for Athletic Communications in September of 2010.

He is responsible for assisting all aspects in the Communications department including the department's communications unit and media and public relations strategies for SMC athletics. He also assists with the development of the school's official athletic website, social media and video initiatives and serves as the department's primary media relations contact for men's soccer, women's basketball and lacrosse.

Oshidari also helps ESPN and Comcast when Saint Mary's hosts nationally televised men's basketball games.

From 2004-2010, Oshidari served as the assistant sports information director at UC San Diego. At UCSD, he served as the primary media contact for 12 (m/w volleyball, baseball, m/w swimming, m/w crew, m/w fencing, m/w water polo, golf) of the Tritons' 23 athletic programs. In six years, Oshidari's teams won 18 conference titles and advanced to the NCAA postseason 22 times.

Oshidari gained experience hosting several conference and NCAA championship events including soccer, water polo, volleyball and baseball. He also directed UCSD's baseball media, accompanying the team to the Division II National Championships in Cary, N.C.

During his time in San Diego, Oshidari also spent time volunteering and assisting at several local sporting events including the PGA's Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines, the LPGA's Kia Classic in Carlsbad and a Los Angeles Sparks exhibition game held at Viejas Arena.

Prior to UC San Diego, Oshidari spent one year with the West Coast Conference Communications staff where he was the primary media contact for women's soccer, women's basketball, golf and tennis. He assisted in the compilation of conference statistics and award ballots.

From 2001-2003, Oshidari served as an assistant in the athletic media relations office at the University of the Pacific. He was the primary contact for men's volleyball and women's soccer, while also assisting with baseball and basketball duties.

He is a 2001 graduate from UC Davis with a degree in American Studies and a minor in Exercise Science.

Oshidari married his wife Lisa, in September of 2010. They welcomed their first born son Gavin in December of 2011.
