Saint Mary's College recently inducted former football standout John Arnaudon and head baseball coach Miles McAfee into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in a special Alumni Awards Celebration at Moraga Country Club.
A 1981 graduate of Saint Mary's, Arnaudon lettered from 1978-81 and ranks seventh all-time with 90 career receptions. His 1,522 reception yards is sixth all-time, and he finished his career with 10 touchdowns. In his senior season he registered 39 receptions for 552 yards. In the 1980 Little Big Game against Santa Clara, Arnaudon caught eight passes for a total of 92 yards. He also combined with Terry Cottle for the longest pass reception in school history at the time.
McAfee served as the head baseball coach at Saint Mary's from 1973-80 and, in his seven years, became the all-time winningest head coach in school history with an overall record of 215-188-7. He was 104-107-1 in the West Coast Conference. McAfee coached the 1977 squad to the best program record in history at 41-13 and finished second in the WCC.
In addition to the Athletic Hall of Fame inductions, the school recognized several other individuals, including Alumnus of the Year - Joe Crane '53; Signum Fidei Award - Rev. Caesar Caviglia '50; Meritorious Service Award - Cindy Cooper '96; De La Salle Award - Chris Jones; GOLD Award - Derek Smead '02.
