DALLAS -- The NBA's Dallas Mavericks announced yesterday the club added former Saint Mary's guard Mickey McConnell to its preseason training camp roster roster.
McConnell joined former Syracuse standout Fab Melo and D.J. Kennedy from St. John's to expand the Mavericks' roster to 18 players.
McConnell finished his collegiate career in 2011 as one of the top all-around players in Saint Mary's history. He ranks among the top 10 career leaders in 3-point field goals made (4th) and attempted (8th), 3-point percentage (2nd), free throw percentage (6th), assists (4th), assists average (8th), steals (tied for 8th) and games played (6th).
As a senior, he was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year and honorable mention All-America by the Associated Press.
Last season, he played for Tezenis VE in Italy and averaged 13.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 32 games. He was named Eurobasket.com All-Italian Lega2 Honorable Mention.
McConnell is one of two players confirmed on an NBA roster, along with San Antonio Spurs guard Patrick Mills. Recent media reports have indicated Matthew Dellavedova will be on the Cleveland Cavaliers' roster, but the club has not released that information.
