MBK | Levesque Earns Academic All-America Honor

TOWSON, Md. -- Forward Beau Levesque became the third Saint Mary's men's basketball player ever to earn Capital One Academic All-America® honors when he was selected to the 2013-14 third-team by the College Sports Information Directors of America today.

Levesque, a graduate student working toward a master's degree in leadership, earned his undergraduate degree in kinesiology last May with a 3.80 cumulative grade point average. He was named to the department's Athletic Director's Honor Roll last year as having one of the top 13 grade point averages among all student-athetes and earned the Mens Sana in Corpore Sano Award during graduation ceremonies as the outstanding undergraduate senior student in the school's Department of Kinesiology.

Ted Wood became the first Saint Mary's male athlete to earn Capital One Academic All-America® honors when he was a member of the second-team in 1980. Matthew Dellavedova became the school's first-ever first-team selection in 2012 and was a second-team honoree last year as a senior.

A native of nearby Lafayette, Levesque attended De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif. and was originally a walk-on to the SMC basketball program. He enters tonight's game at San Francisco with 113 career appearances, including 36 starts, and owns a 6.9 per game career scoring average.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America® honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
