SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- With the recent conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year, the West Coast Conference announced that more than 150 Saint Mary's student-athletes were named to the 14th annual WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes that successfully balance athletic success with academic excellence.
For the fourth consecutive year, more than 1,000 WCC student-athletes garnered honors on the Commissioner's Honor Roll for possessing at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. This year, more than 1,350 student-athletes qualified for recognition, establishing a conference record for the second consecutive season.
Saint Mary's placed 153 student-athletes on the Honor Roll, tying for the second-most among the 10 institutions that comprise the WCC. A total of 15 Gaels earned gold honors as having a GPA of at least a 3.75:
- Erica Musgrave, softball, 4.00
- Jordan Kurtz, cross country, 3.95
- Lukas Isaacson, men's soccer, 3.94
- Lowell Kirkwood, cross country, 3.93
- Jana McCord, women's tennis, 3.93
- Isabella Navarro, women's cross country, 3.92
- Carina Novell, women's cross country, 3.90
- Josh Spooner, men's cross country, 3.89
- Lisa Janko, women's basketball, 3.86
- Juliana Los, women's soccer, 3.85
- Samuel Bloore, men's tennis, 3.83
- Taylor Brazil, rowing, 3.81
- Madelyn Hutson, volleyball, 3.81
- David Dellaserra, baseball, 3.75
- Lauren Watanabe, softball, 3.75
Only grades earned at WCC institutions may be used in calculating the grade point average for this award. To be considered for this honor, student-athletes must meet the following requirements:
1) Individuals must have earned a varsity letter in a sport which the conference determined a champion in the recently completed academic year.
2) The cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 must be based on a 4.0 scale.
3) The individuals must have successfully completed an average of at least 12 graded credit hours (non pass-fail hours) per term.
The conference recognizes those on the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll in three separate categories:
4.00-3.75 - Gold Honors
3.74-3.50 - Silver Honors
3.49-3.00 - Bronze Honors
