MORAGA, Calif. — Hannah Diaz of the Saint Mary's women's soccer team was named Muscle Milk Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 31- Nov. 6 after she recorded her seventh goal of the year in an impressive season finale win over Loyola Marymount.
Diaz got on the scoreboard in the 28th minute with one of her textbook goals. Collecting the ball at the midfield, Diaz used her pace to get by defenders. At the left corner of the 18 yard box, the junior blasted a shot past the Lions keeper to help the Gaels to the 2-1 victory.
Along with her seven goals on the season, she has three assists to lead the Gaels with 17 points. She is among the offensive leaders in the West Coast Conference with an average of 3.15 shots per game. Diaz is fifth in goals scored and seventh in the conference in points total.
The attacking midfielder was a key part in the season's strong finish, as the Gaels went ahead and won three of their last four matches. This was the first time in 13 years the program won at least three conference matches in a season.
