Chance, Labadie Named Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's cross country and track freshmen Edward Chance and Mason Labadie were named Co-Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week Monday after their performances Saturday at the U.S. Junior National Cross Country Championship in Bend, Ore.

Chance finished 14th at the USATF national championship event and Labadie finished 21st. Both runners finished ahead of runners from UCLA and Chance defeated a runner from Ivy League champion Columbia University.

To have two guys finish in the top-20 at a national championship event is really great for the program," said Saint Mary's head coach Marty Kinsey. "That experience is only going to help them as we prepare for the spring track season and as they continue to grow in their careers at Saint Mary's."

The Gaels open their outdoor track season on Feb. 20 and 21 with West Coast Conference quad and relay meets, respectively, in Orinda.
