BSB | Gaels Entertain UC Davis In Midweek Clash

MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's baseball team concludes a four-game home stand Tuesday with a single non-conference game versus Big West Conference member UC Davis at Louis Guisto Field.

Tuesday's game is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch. Tickets for Tuesday's game are $2 off for fans wearing Saint Mary's gear. Tickets can be purchased online on SMCGaels.com or by calling the Saint Mary's ticket office at 925-631-GoTx. Season tickets, group tickets, multi-game plans and single game tickets are available for purchase. Tuesday's game will also be streamed live on GaelVision.

The Gaels (20-12) are coming off a three-game series win over West Coast Conference leader BYU, putting them in a three-way tie for first place with the Cougars and Gonzaga. Saint Mary's has won five its last seven games and is 3-2 this season in midweek games.

ABOUT UC DAVIS

The Aggies (8-21) have lost six in a row and 11 of their last 13. Last weekend they suffered a three-game sweep on the road at Big West Conference power Cal State Fullerton. UC Davis is 2-3 in midweek games, including a win over WCC member San Francisco.

UC Davis carries a .955 team fielding percentage with 51 errors in 29 games. Opponents have scored 23 unearned runs against the Aggies. Mark Cardinalli leads UCD with a .329 average and .386 on-base percentage. UC Davis has stolen 42 bases with 15 different players stealing at least one.

WINNING IN RELIEF

Saint Mary's relievers have been getting rewarded for their performances this season, picking up half of the Gaels' wins. SMC relievers are 10-3 on the year with an ERA just over 4.00 (4.09). The Gaels' bullpen has thrown a combined 110 innings with a near-2-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio.

GETTING THEM IN BUNCHES

When Zach Kirtley gets a hit, there's usually another one (or two, or three) coming. Kirtley has 15 multi-hit games on the season. He has nine two-hit games, five three-hit games and went 4 for 5 in the opener versus BYU on Thursday.

COMING UP

The Gaels travel to the Pacific Northwest to face Pac-12 member Washington on the road in a four-game series beginning Friday. They then return to host No. 13/14 UC Santa Barbara on April 26.
