MORAGA, Calif. — After helping the Saint Mary's volleyball team to a winning weekend in Colorado to open the year, sophomore Sarah Chase was named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week Monday.
Chase totaled 36 kills and 32 digs in three matches, posting two double-doubles as the Gaels went 2-1 to start 2016. Friday she led SMC against Northern Colorado with 14 kills, had a double-double with 14 digs, and was second on the team with four total blocks. The Gaels would win their season-opener, 3-1, at the Bears.
Chase added her second double-double of the weekend Sunday with 16 kills and 12 digs as Saint Mary's defeated North Dakota State, 3-1, in a neutral site match at Colorado State. She also had a perfect 1.000 serving percentage with no errors in 14 attempts.
The Gaels open their home schedule on Firday with three matches in two days at McKeon Pavilion. The Gaels host UC Riverside, Middle Tennessee State and Nevada in their annual home tournament on Friday and Saturday.
