Knudsen Named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. — Two double-doubles and a West Coast Conference-opening victory over Gonzaga earned Saint Mary's volleyball's Lindsey Knudsen Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 19-25.

Knudsen had 14 kills in back-to-back matches last week versus Gonzaga and Portland. She also had 14 digs each night for her seventh and eighth double-doubles of the season. Her 14 kills were team highs in both matches. Her 14 digs led the Gaels Thursday versus the Bulldogs and were just one behind Emily Bible's 15 digs Saturday versus Portland.

Saint Mary's defeated Gonzaga, 3-1 (26-28, 25-17, 25-21, 25-21), for their first win over the Bulldogs since 2014. It was the Gaels' first WCC-opening victory since 2013 and snapped a four-match losing streak entering the weekend.

The Gaels (6-7, 0-1 WCC) travel across the Bay to face the Dons (4-11, 0-2 WCC) at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Saint Mary's then hosts Loyola Marymount (10-3, 1-0 WCC) at 7 p.m. Thursday and Pepperdine (6-7, 0-1 WCC) at 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are available now for these and all home matches. Tickets can be purchased on the SMC tickets web site or by calling (925) 631-GoTx. Season tickets, group tickets and single-match tickets are all available for purchase. All three of this week's matches will be streamed live on the "GaelVision" Volleyball Gameday Central page.
