MORAGA, Calif. — The Gaels will play two conference matches this weekend against Bay Area schools as they host Santa Clara and San Francisco at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.
Santa Clara (11-3, 1-1 WCC) will come to Moraga on Saturday after facing off against Pacific the day prior. On Sunday, the Dons (6-11, 1-3 WCC) come to town after playing host to Cal Poly on Friday as well. The Gaels will look for revenge as they were defeated by both teams on the road last season.
Saint Mary's (6-9, 1-2 WCC) returns home victoriously after defeating Loyola Marymount on the road in their last match, 4-3. The win marked the Gaels' first conference win since Mar. 28, 2015 when the team defeated Gonzaga at home.
Manuel De Luis Lamelas came up huge for the Gaels, winning the decisive fourth point 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to clinch the win. Matthew Campana, Jacob Lagman, and Damon Kesaris also picked up singles' victories to lead the Gaels to their sixth win of the season.
Saint Mary's is 3-2 in their last five matches and will look to pick up two more W's against the Broncos and Dons. Results and recaps for each day's action can be found following the match at SMCGaels.com.
