The Gaels completed their final day of competition on Tuesday at the and secured a tie for sixth place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.
FAIRFAX, Calif. — The Gaels completed competition on Tuesday at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational and fought hard in the final round to secure themselves a sixth place tie with UC Davis.
THE LEADERBOARD
The Gaels ended competition on Tuesday in sixth place tied with UC Davis with a score of 14-under. Saint Mary's was edged by Santa Clara by just one stroke with a 15-under score to miss out on a top-5 finish in the 15-team field.
Pepperdine came roaring from behind in the final round with a 22-under score to take the tournament and beat second-place Cal by nine strokes at 52-under. San Jose State (26-under), Arizona State (25-under) and Santa Clara rounded out the top-5 teams.
The leader for the Gaels in the end was Michael Slesinski, who achieved a tie for 20th place with a 4-under. Following closely behind were Blake Hathcoat and Ethan Farnam who were tied for 22nd place with scores of 3-under.
First place in the tournament went to Pepperdine's RJ Manke who ended competition with a 21-under. Manke set the 54-hole record at the tournament and also set the record for best 18-hole performance with a 9-under round on Tuesday. Second place went to Cal's Collin Morikawa who achieved a 17-under score and third place also went to a player from Cal, Sebastian Crampton who collected a score of 14-under.

- Hathcoat jumped 16 places on the final day of competition to secure his spot in 22nd place.
- Slesinski completed a total of 16 birdies during the tournament which was sixth best in the 80-competitor field.
- Hathcoat tied for fourth with total number of pars, of which he had 38.
- Slesinski led the Gaels with five birdies on Sunday.
- Hathcoat shot a 4-under on the back nine in the final round.
