LAST TIME OUT (t-11th place at Saint Mary's Invitational)
Scott Hardy and his group hosted the 18th edition of the Saint Mary's Invitational last week at Bayonet Golf Course in Monterey County. The Gaels found themselves inside the top-10 after day one but fell to as low as 13th out of the 18-team field after the second round on Tuesday. They battled the elements in Wednesday's final round with on-and-off showers and finished two-over-par to jump two spots for a t-11th finish.
Veterans Sam Baumuller and Inigo Izuzquiza steadied the ship on the final day for the Gaels, carding a pair of 72's. Baumuller finished his week three-under-par in a tie for 17th place individually and has now finished inside the top-20 in all four events this fall. Baumuller has gotten off to a career start this fall, putting himself in contention for the individual title in three of his four events and ranking inside the top-100 in the country with a 69.29 scoring average. Trey Tuyo and Will Hardy were the next best finishers on the day with final rounds of one-over-par. Tuyo went birdie-birdie to start his third round while Hardy made the turn with back-to-back birdies to contribute to solid final round performances.
Saint Mary's will head to The Preserve Golf Club in Carmel for the second consecutive year and will look to crack the top-five for the fifth time this season after a seventh place finish a year ago.
