MBB | Gaels Play LSU in Las Vegas This Weekend

Following their Monday night game versus Cal State Fullerton, the Gaels will play just one other game this week against the Tigers.
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (7-4) will play their fourth neutral site contest in their past nine games this weekend as they trek to Las Vegas for the Neon Hoops Showcase matchup against LSU. The Gaels and Tigers square off 25 minutes after the conclusion of the BYU-UNLV game taking place at 5:30 p.m., also in T-Mobile Arena as part of the showcase.

The Tigers will travel to Las Vegas following their Wednesday night road game at No. 24 Houston. Going into the game, LSU holds a 7-2 record with their only two losses coming against No. 14 Florida State and Oklahoma State. The Tigers were ranked among the top-25 in the AP Poll to begin the season and peaked at No. 19 before falling off the list after their loss to the Cowboys.
Skylar Mays leads the LSU offense with 13.9 points per game while three other Tigers are also averaging double-digits. The sharpshooter Mays has knocked down 43 percent of his 3-point tries and is also shooting over 90 percent at the free throw line.
Tremont Waters leads the team in minutes played and has been a factor on both sides of the court as the team's point guard. In addition to his 11.4 points, Waters is averaging a team-best 5.6 assists per game and also has 3.0 steals per contest, good for third best in the nation.
As a team, the Tigers are averaging over 15 dimes per games and six more rebounds than their opposition. LSU has scored 82.1 points over their first nine games but have also been vulnerable around the perimeter, giving up 38 percent of 3-point attempts against them.
