MORAGA, Calif. - The No. 19/RV Saint Mary's beach volleyball team came from behind Tuesday to beat Northern California rival Pacific, 3-2, at Moraga Commons, extending its winning streak to five straight and staying unbeaten at home.

The Gaels (9-2) beat the Tigers (5-7) by winning both the No. 1 and No. 2 pairs matchups after Pacific had taken a 2-1 match lead through the No 3, 4 and 5 pairs. Pacific grabbed wins at No. 3 and No. 5, while Lindsey Calvin and Kelsey Knudsen took down Ashlyn Fleming and Taylor Poncetta at No. 4, 21-19, 21-16.

Emily Bible and Lindsey Knudsen evened the match at 2-2 with a sweep at No. 2 pairs. They beat Roni Long and Skyler Wine, 21-13 and 21-12. SMC's top pair of Morgan Hughes and Paytong Rund won for the eighth consecutive time in clinching the match with a sweep at No. 1 pairs. They took down Pacific's Laycie LaBass and Andy Shelton, 21-14, 21-15. The duo came from behind in the second set, going on an 11-3 run to clinch the match after trailing 12-10.

Saint Mary's travels to Southern California next week for seven matches in four days, taking on some of the best teams in the country along the way. The Gaels will face Oregon and host Long Beach State on March 28, then take on Concordia University Irvine and host No. 16/15 Loyola Marymount the next day. On March 31, the Gaels will face three nationally ranked teams in the Pepperdine Invitational, with host and No. 1/1 Pepperdine, No. 4/4 USC and LMU all participating.
