2018-19 Saint Mary's Women's Basketball Schedule
SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference released its 2018-19 women's basketball conference schedule Tuesday, and the Saint Mary's women's basketball team will open their WCC slate on New Year's Eve on the road at local rival Pacific.
The Gaels (20-11, 13-5 WCC in 2017-18) will host nine WCC home games, including the home opener on Jan. 10 versus San Diego. SMC will play four consecutive home WCC games at the end of January and beginning of February, hosting Southern California foes Pepperdine (Jan. 24) and Loyola Marymount (Jan. 26), and a rematch versus its Pacific Northwest nemeses Portland (Jan. 31) and rival Gonzaga (Feb. 2).
Saint Mary's will kick off the conference season on Dec. 31 in Stockton against the same team that ended its conference tournament run a year ago. SMC's conference slate starts with a three-game road trip, including a weekend in the Pacific Northwest to start the new year. The Gaels will play five of their first seven WCC games on the road.
Saint Mary's finished second in the conference for the third straight season in 2017-18 with a 13-5 WCC record. The Gaels were among the conference's top-three three teams for the fifth time in the last six years. They won 20 games for the seventh straight season and eighth in the last nine, while making their ninth straight appearance in the postseason.
