SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Announced today and voted by the 10 head coaches in the West Coast Conference, Saint Mary's men's tennis was picked to finish ninth in the WCC Preseason Poll and
Damon Kesaris was chosen for the All-WCC Preseason Men's Team.
Kesaris led the team last year as he went 13-5 overall (5-2 WCC) and was named First Team All-WCC. The South African was the No. 1 singles seed during the season and also teamed up with Nash Vollenweider to go 7-6 being the best doubles duo on the team. This past fall, Kesaris made it to the Singles' Round of 32 during the ITA Regionals.
San Diego was picked to finish first with eight possible points while Santa Clara, BYU, and Loyola Marymount are tied for second with 63 points. Both Santa Clara and Pepperdine each received the final remaining first place votes.
Saint Mary's will resume play on Feb. 1 as they will travel to Irvine to take on the Highlanders at 2 p.m. PT. The Gaels will play their first home match versus UC Davis on Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. PT.
