So. Bastien Maxant: 4-0 in singles play and claimed flight title at Aggie Fall Invite

DAVIS, Calif. – The Saint Mary's men's tennis team put together their best weekend on paper at the annual Aggie Fall Invite hosted by Big West member UC Davis. Francisco Duran and Bastien Maxant combined to go 8-0 and win their respective flights while true freshman Juan Pedro Etchecoin advanced to the quarterfinals with a win over Cal Poly.
Joseph Lyon also recorded a singles win in straight sets, 6-2 6-3, while Paulo Hugo Etchecoin dropped a pair of tight matches to WCC foes Pacific and Gonzaga. On the doubles side, Lyon and Etchecoin paired up and reached the semis of the main draw, recording wins over William Jessup and Menlo before falling to Sacramento State. Duran and Maxant represented the other duo for the Gaels and got wins over William Jessup and host UC Davis.
"Our boys had a great weekend at the Aggie Invite", said first-year head coach Dan Cardiff. "It was an encouraging weekend for us with consistent performances across the lineup. The team continues to build momentum and embody the approach we are implementing here at Saint Mary's. These performances reflected what we want Gaels tennis to represent; intensity, focus and commitment to our process" (Cardiff).
