BASE | HC Greg Moore adds Tashjian, Nashed to Coaching Staff

MORAGA, Calif. – Head coach Greg Moore has announced that he is adding two new members to the coaching staff; Dylan Tashjian as Volunteer Assistant Coach and Josh Nashed as Director of Player Development.

Josh Nashed joins the Gaels after spending two seasons as a RHP with the Cleveland Indians organization. Nashed was Cleveland's 19th round selection in the 2017 MLB Draft. A San Jose State University graduate, Nashed played for three seasons as a Spartan and was the Opening Day starting pitcher in both his sophomore and junior seasons. Nashed also appeared in a combined 89 games in the field, starting 40 games as the designated hitter, 13 in right field, 9 in left field, 7 at third base, 5 at first base, along with 15 pinch hit appearances. Nashed received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration and was named a 3-time Academic All-Mountain West honoree and 2017 Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar national award recipient. A San Jose, Calif. native, Nashed attended Leland High School. Following his senior season, he was named Cal-Hi Sports First Team All-State, MaxPreps First Team All-State, BVAL Mount-Hamilton Division MVP and San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year.

Prior to joining the Gaels, Dylan Tashjian was with the CSUN Matadors and his primary responsibilities included assisting with coordination of recruiting as well as offensive and outfield consulting, as well as coordinating the operations for the Matadors. Before coaching, Tashjian played collegiate baseball with Los Angeles Pierce College before transferring to Lewis-Clark State. Tashjian enjoyed an impressive two seasons with Pierce College from 2013-14. His freshman year, Tashjian played at second base and hit .322 at the plate as he received an all-conference first team honor following the campaign. A season later, Tashjian earned a gold glove, received another first team all-conference selection and led Pierce College to the postseason. Leading one of the top offenses in team history, Tashjian hit .335 and led the conference in RBI and stolen bases. After completing his time with Pierce College, Tashjian made the move to Lewis-Clark State. In 2016, Tashjian assisted the team in a variety of ways including pinch-hitting. Tashjian hit .420 and recorded two walk-off pinch-hits in the 2016 NAIA World Series. The two walk-off pinch hits matched a school record by his coach at Lewis-Clark State. He helped the Warriors win consecutive NAIA National Championships and the team's 18th title. Tashjian earned his Bachelor's in Kinesiology in the fall of 2016 from Lewis-Clark State, with a focus in Sports Administration and Coaching. He also earned placement on the honor roll twice in 2015. Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Tashjian, however, attended Palm Springs High School and earned his diploma in 2010.
