WTEN | Gaels Find Success on Day 2 of SMC Invite

Saint Mary's took home a handful of wins in the second day of their host tournament.

MORAGA, Calif. — The Gaels continued their strong play during the second day of the Saint Mary's Invitational by picking up eight of a possible nine wins on Saturday.

Both Gabriela Tevez and Jordan Harris advanced to the semifinals of the Singles B Flight by earning up two wins. Tevez was close to victory in her first match before her opponent retired and then defeated San Jose State's Milojkovic 6-2, 6-2. Harris won both of her matches in straight sets, taking the first match 6-2, 6-3 and then 6-4, 6-3 in the second.

Harris and her teammate Chloe Goyette will be playing in the finals of their doubles draw on Sunday after picking up an 8-4 win over Cal Poly's duo of Dunkle/Monaghan in the Gaels' only doubles match of the day.

In consolation singles, Danielle McIntyre defeated Alba Pedrero Galindo from San Jose State 7-5, 6-4 before falling to Sara Tsukamoto from UC Davis. Liesl Pieters won both of her matches including a dominating 6-0, 6-3 win against Christina Zordani from Wisconsin.

The Gaels wrap up the final day of the tournament beginning tomorrow morning.
