FAIRFAX, Calif. — Saint Mary's held their own during the final round of the Alister Mackenzie Invitational and finished third in the 15-team field after shooting 2-under on Tuesday.
THE LEADERBOARD
The Gaels finished play at 26-under after three rounds and were led by
Ethan Farnam who finished fourth in the 84-man field.
Blake Hathcoat just missed the top-10 by tying for 12th at 7-under as did
Evan Peterson who was competing as an individual.
Ash Hakim finished t-20th while
Ryan Grauman and
Michael Slesinski each shot 4-over in the tournament.
SMC were only outdone by Pepperdine, who finished first at 43-under, and Cal, who shot one stroke better than the Gaels. True to yesterday, Boise State and Long Beach State rounded out the top-5.
Pepperdine's Sahith Theegala won medalist honors by two strokes over Farnam at 16-under. San Diego's Harrison Kingsley and San Jose State's Sean Yu tied for second at 15-under.
FINAL ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
- Farnam tied for the best result on Tuesday with a 7-under round.
- Five of the six Gaels birdied the 492-yard par 5 hole one.
- Farnam finished his round with six straight birdies from 13th to 18th.
- Hathcoat recorded the team's third eagle of the tournament on 16th.
- Slesinski shot eight straight pars to finish the day.

- The Gaels will get a few weeks off before heading to Stockton for the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational beginning Oct. 21. The three-day event will be played at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
