HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Gaels jumped out to a quick 12-4 lead and never looked back as they closed out the Zags, 25-21 in the opening set. Saint Mary's picked up 13 kills in the set and boasted a .355 hitting percentage. Gonzaga made a late push to make things interesting at 23-21 but a kill from Sienna Young and an ensuing ace by Breyan Ashley would secure the set.

SET 2 | The second set of the match was all Gaels as SMC cruised to a 25-10 win. A 10-3 run midway through the set would help Saint Mary's separate and then the Gaels closed on a 9-2 run to go up 2-0 in the match. SMC hit over .600 in the set while Gonzaga's hitting percentage was in the negatives.

SET 3 | The middle set went back and forth with never team getting ahead by more than a few points but Gonzaga was able to rally late to take their first set of the match. Down 18-21, GU strung together a couple kills to claim seven of the last nine points and win 25-23.

SET 4 | An 8-0 run put the Bulldogs ahead 11-5 but Saint Mary's managed to fight back to close the lead to just a point. After being tied up 15-all, GU won the next seven points and eventually forced the fifth set with a 25-16 win.

SET 5 | A rough start had the Gaels down 5-0 off the bat and the team wouldn't be able to recover as Gonzaga maintained a four to five point lead for most of the set. The Zags took the set and the match at 15-9.
