Women's tennis student-athlete Mariia Kozyreva went 2-0 in singles play last week.
MORAGA, Calif. — Gaels' sophomore Mariia Kozyreva has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week after dominating in her two singles matches this week.
Kozyreva led Saint Mary's to begin their conference season 2-0 as the Gaels took down San Francisco and Santa Clara this week, 4-0. The native Russian appeared as the team's top singles player in both contests and picked up two wins with 6-1, 6-1 scores.
Kozyreva also teamed up with Hind Abdelouahid to defeat the Dons' No. 1 doubles tandem , 6-2. According to the latest ITA Rankings, Kozyreva is No. 94 in the nation.
The Gaels play two more matches this weekend against Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine at home this week. More information for the events can be found on the team's schedule page.
