MORAGA, Calif. – The No. 19 Gaels will celebrate their five seniors when they play their final home match on Thursday afternoon against 20th-ranked Stanford.
GAEL SENIORS
Sarah Chase/Lindsey Knudsen:This senior duo has been dominant all season on court No. 1. They lead the team with an 18-4 record and are 16-1 in the past 30 days. They are currently on an 8-match winning streak and some of their biggest wins this season have come against No. 11/13 Stanford, No. 12 Cal, and No. 13 Loyola Marymount.
Emily Bible/Lindsey Calvin: Bible and Calvin and held down the No. 2 position all season. They have lost just five of their 22 matches for an overall record of 17-5. The pair have won seven of their last eight matches and are currently on a three-match streak. Their biggest wins this season have come against No. 12 Cal and No. 11 Stanford.
Alex O'Sullivan: O'Sullivan just received her first victory of the season on April 6 against Santa Clara when she played in the No. 5 position alongside
Morgan Kendrick. They defeated their opponents 21-16, 21-13.
As a team, the Gaels are currently 16-6 overall and 9-2 when facing conference opponents. They have also won six of their last seven contests and each of their last three. Saint Mary's has taken on Stanford twice this season and they are 2-0 against the Cardinal. They first faced off on February 24 in the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. SMC won that match five sets to none with three pairs outlasting the No. 11-ranked Cardinal in three sets. More recently, the Gaels faced Stanford in Palo Alto. Despite coming in with a lower ranking, Saint Mary's forced an upset once again. This time, the Gaels won 3-2 with victories on courts one, four, and five.
