GOLF | Hathcoat Finishes Third at PING Cougar Classic

Blake Hathcoat posted his second top-5 finish of the season at the PING Cougar Classic.

PROVO, Utah — Blake Hathcoat continued his excellent play in the third round of the PING Cougar Classic and led Saint Mary's efforts by tying for third in the field of 90.

THE LEADERBOARD
Hathcoat shot 2-over in the final round to wrap up the tournament at 8-under and tied four other competitors for third overall. BYU's Peter Kuest claimed the medalist title with ease at 17-under while Colorado State's Parathakorn Suyarsi finished runner up at 9-under.

The Gaels claimed 7th place in the 15-team tournament and were a combined 10-under. No. 35 BYU won the tournament at 24-under, Boise State was second at 19-under, and No. 46 Colorado State ended third with a 17-under total.

Ethan Ashbrook posted the team's best round of the day at 4-under to finish second in the Gaels' lineup at t-22th and was 1-under combined. Michael Slesinski was even on the day to complete the tournament 1-over. Ethan Farnam was a solid 2-under on Saturday to finish 3-over while Ryan Grauman rounded out the lineup at 15-over.

Dylan VanderVeer posted the best result among the individuals, finishing play 8-over. Ash Hakim shot 11-over while Evan Peterson was 13-over.

FINAL ROUND HIGHLIGHTS

Ashbrook had six birdies in the final round, most of any Gael.
Hathcoat tied for third on par 3's in the tournament.
Slesinski shot 3-under on the back 9 with three birdies.
Ashbrook and VanderVeer were each 3-under on the front 9.
All of Hathcoat's three birdies came on the front 9.
