SB | Gaels to Host BYU This Weekend

Saint Mary's will host BYU in a three-game series this weekend as they will play a single contest on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday.

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (11-34, 4-5 WCC) will look to host BYU this weekend in a three-game set with a single contest on Friday at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.

ABOUT BYU
The Cougars own a 24-20 overall record and are coming off a three-game sweep against San Diego to improve their conference record to 8-1. BYU totaled 33 hits across the three games to aid their 30 totals runs during the weekend.

Outfielder Rylee Jensen is at the forefront of the Cougars' efforts as she holds a .417 batting average and a .468 on-base percentage. The juniors' batting average is the lone average above .400 on the team. Jensen leads the West Coast Conference in five different categories: hits (56), runs scored (38), runs batted in (27), home runs (10), and total bases (101).

Arissa Paulson leads BYU in the circle as she owns a 10-12 record with a 3.00 ERA in 112.0 innings pitched. The sophomore has recorded 84 strikeouts so far this season and has collected two of the Cougars' five total shutouts.

As a team, BYU holds a batting average of .278 as they have notched 42 home runs and have collected 216 total runs to lead the conference in these respective categories. The Cougars will look to play a single game against Utah on Wednesday prior to taking on Saint Mary's.

LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels put up a hard fight last weekend as they faced off against Loyola Marymount in a three-game set, but ultimately dropped all three. In the second game of the series, the contest stretched over two regulation games long as they went to 15 innings after each team scored a run in the ninth. LMU went on to take the win as they managed to scratch across another run in the fifteenth. Saint Mary's collected 16 hits over the span of all three games.
