Joe Vranesh Named Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week

TUSCON, Ariz. – Joe Vranesh went on a tear in Spokane over the weekend, propelling the Gaels to a series victory over Gonzaga, and earning himself Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week Honors.
The junior went 7-for-14 (.500) with seven RBI and three home runs including a grand slam in the series opener against Gonzaga. In the series victory, he recorded an on-base percentage of .533 and a slugging percentage of 1.143 (1.676 OPS). He is currently on a 12-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 17-consecutive games. Vranesh leads the Gaels with 12 homers this season which is tied with Kevin Milam (2017) for the most home runs in a season since Troy Channing hit 15 in 2010. With the big series, Vranesh has raised his batting average to .333 for the year.
The Gaels are back in action on Tuesday when they head to No. 16 UC Santa Barbara. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. Then, they will continue their hunt for a WCC-Tournament berth in their final home series May 10-12 against Santa Clara.
