MORAGA, Calif. – Kevin Bettencourt joins the Saint Mary's baseball staff as the Director of Operations after serving as the Graduate Assistant at Cal State Northridge last season.

Bettencourt oversaw the student-managers, helped with recruiting visits, and the setup of the locker room, batting cages, and field. He also managed the software to track and analyze game film, compiled statistics, and served as the assistant catching coach.

Before his time with the Matadors, he spent a season with his alma mater (Vanguard University) as an assistant coach. There, he served as the assistant recruiting coordinator and the point person for academic requirements and the admission process for prospective student-athletes. Bettencourt also conducted campus tours for incoming players and acted as an assistant head coach in practice.

Before his coaching days, he played at Vanguard as a catcher after transferring from Modesto Community College. In his final season, he appeared in 44 games while starting in 43. He was both a GSAC Scholar Athlete and a member of the 2016 GSAC All-Academic Team in his senior season.

Bettencourt graduated cum laude from Vanguard with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2016 and received his master's degree in Sport Management from University of San Francisco in 2019.

"Kevin Bettencourt could be in many professions," said head coach Greg Moore. "He chooses to run our office because he is commitment to student-athletes. Kevin is organized and tenacious. He will oversee a variety of areas, from the technology used by players to improve on the field to coordinating travel. His role is as challenging as his abilities are ready for the job."
