MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary's College men's basketball program is set to host its annual Tip Off Dinner, presented by Scott's Seafood Walnut Creek on Friday, Oct. 25 inside McKeon Pavilion. This year's dinner will feature a special guest, ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi, who will join host Matt Maiocco on discussing Gael basketball and giving insight into the upcoming season.
This year's dinner begins at 6 p.m. on Friday night inside McKeon Pavilion. Maiocco, an NBC Sports 49ers Insider, will once again emcee the event and will be joined by Lunardi. The team and coaching staff will be introduced and tickets for the event are now available. The dinner will also feature a special WCC Championship ring presentation to last year's team after capturing the WCC Tournament title in Vegas.
Lunardi has been working with ESPN for nearly 20 years as the resident Bracketologist and nicknamed "Joey Brackets" by many in the college basketball. Last season, Lunardi predicted 67 of 68 teams correctly into the NCAA Tournament.
As of August, in Lunardi's latest Bracketology prediction for the upcoming 2019-20 season, he has the Gaels as a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Overall, several college basketball analysts have Saint Mary's ranked anywhere from No. 15 to No. 22 in their preseason polls.
