WSOC | Gaels Hit the Road This Weekend

Saint Mary's will travel to Idaho on Friday to take on the Bengals for an 11:30 a.m. matchup.

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's will look to record their third straight win as they will travel to Idaho State on Friday to take on the Bengals at 11:30 a.m. PT. 

The Gaels are coming off a victorious weekend after picking up two wins to even their record to 3-3. SMC defeated California Baptist in a 2-1 decision on Friday followed by the team's best offensive performance since 1999 in a 6-1 victory over Wagner College on Sunday.

In the matchup against Wagner, six different Gaels scored with four of those goals notched in the second half. Saint Mary's fired off 24 shots during the matchup which is the most shots taken in a game so far this season for SMC.

Jaylen Crim is at the forefront of the Gaels' efforts in goals and points thus far with three and eight, respectively. Sophie Santos and Kaytlin Brinkman follow close behind Crim with two goals a piece. Kamryn Farro has recorded the highest number of shots for the Gaels with 14.

Goalie Maleah Milner has also been a key component for Saint Mary's as she has started in all six games and has collected 18 saves. 

ABOUT IDAHO STATE
The Bengals hold a 0-5-1 record this season as they are coming off their fifth straight loss against Wyoming in a 4-1 decision. During the contest, Idaho State managed to put up a goal in the first half, but were unable to overcome the Cowgirls. 

Makena Bambei has led the team so far this season as she has recorded 17 shots with 10 of those coming on frame. The senior also has two assists thus far after assisting Idaho State's lone goals against New Mexico State and Wyoming. 

In goal, Katie Hogarth has started in five of the Bengals' six matches and has tallied 36 saves compared to opponents with 33. 

Following the match against Saint Mary's, Idaho State will travel to Montana two days later to face off against Cal Poly.
