MBB | Conference Schedule Dates Announced for 2020-21

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference announced the conference matchups for the 2020-21 season this morning, unveiling the 16-game schedule for Saint Mary's. The Gaels will play their first WCC game on Jan. 2 of the new year.

Randy Bennett's club will begin 2021 at home with a Saturday showdown against Pepperdine, the team's only WCC game of the week. The following week, Saint Mary's hits the road and faces San Diego on Thursday before finishing up at Santa Clara on Saturday, Jan. 9. The road contest against USD will be the only time the Gaels and Toreros faceoff in the regular season with the modified conference schedule.

The team's toughest week of the schedule will come early on as the Gaels host BYU on Thursday, Jan. 14 before welcoming Gonzaga to UCU Pavilion just two days later on Jan. 16.

The Gaels will knock out two more road games the following week with a Jan. 21 meeting at Loyola Marymount followed by a Jan. 23 showdown with the Dons on the Hilltop.

On Jan. 28, Saint Mary's will have a Thursday doubleheader against Portland in Moraga with both the men's and women's team taking on the Pilots. Portland is the other team the Gaels will face just once this year. After the game, the Gaels will make the short trip over to Stockton and look to avenge their four-overtime loss against Pacific from last season.

Heading into February, the Gaels have a two-game homestand against Santa Clara (Feb. 4) and Loyola Marymount (Feb. 6).

The following three games will be another very tough stretch of the season for Saint Mary's: at BYU (Thursday, Feb. 11), at Pepperdine (Saturday, Feb. 13), and at Gonzaga (Thursday, Feb. 18). All three teams are predicted to be towards the top of the conference standings in 2020-21 according to college basketball pundits.

Saint Mary's closes out their conference schedule at home with a Thursday matchup against San Francisco (Feb. 25) and Saturday "Senior Night" contest versus Pacific (Feb. 27).
