SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named Saint Mary's junior Mariia Kozyreva the West Coast Conference Women's Singles Player of the Week and the Gaels duo of Chloe Goyette and Jordan Harris the Women's Doubles Team of the Week.
Kozyreva was perfect in singles play as the Gaels went 2-0 against Sacramento State and UC Davis. Against the Hornets' No. 1 seed, Kozyreva only dropped one game as she breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. On Thursday against the Aggies, the junior once again won in straight sets against Sara Tsukamoto, 6-4, 6-2.
Saint Mary's top tandem of Goyette and Harris went 2-0 against Sacramento State and UC Davis and helped SMC claim the doubles point in both matches. Against the Hornets on Tuesday, Goyette and Harris cruised to a 6-2 win and posted the same score against the Aggies' No. 1 doubles team two days later.
The Gaels return to the court this weekend with two more road matches against Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton beginning on Saturday.
