MORAGA, Calif. - James Watt was the final Gael left in the main singles bracket at the ITA Northwest Regionals hosted by Saint Mary's this week. He advanced to the semifinals of the 64-player field on Saturday before a loss there ended his strong run.
In the quarter finals, Watt defeated top seed Philip Hjorth from Cal 7-6 (5), 2-6, 7-5 in a battle to the finish. It was the same in his match with Aryan Chaudhary of Stanford as it went 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(6) in a loss. Even with Watt coming up just short in the semifinals, it's another great showing for the Ashburton, New Zealand native after winning the A Flight Singles Bracket in Santa Barbara last week.
