STOCKTON, Calif. – The Saint Mary's Golf Team finished second out of 15 teams at the Visit Stockton Invitational hosted by the University of the Pacific, and Kristian Bressum also finished second in a field of 90 golfers.
Bressum shot a 66 on day three to go with the 65 and 67 he shot on days one and two respectively to finish 15-under overall and just one stroke behind the top spot. The freshman led all golfers with 18 birdies in the tournament and shot a 198 on the par 71 course. Fellow freshman Mitchell Hoey was second overall in birdies with 16.
Dylan VanderVeer finished tied for seventh overall after a shooting a 67 on day three, just as he did on day one to finish 8-under par for the tournament with a score of 205 overall. Michael Slesinski again made a big climb up the leaderboard, moving up 16 spots after shooting a 66 for the second day in a row to finish tied for 10th overall and 7-under par to finish at 206 strokes.
Ryan Hartanto finished 2-under par for the tournament with a score of 211, and led the Gaels in pars made with 38, one ahead of his teammate Slesinski. Zack Missigman and Hoey each finished 1-under par for the tournament to finish 212 strokes. Jonathan Curran finished the tournament strong shooting 2-under par on day three with a 69 and a score of 215 overall.
The Gaels led the field in par fours made and pars made in general. They were third in par fives and second overall in birdies as a team.

The Gaels will host the SMC Invitational at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif. from November 8-10.
