ROW | Gaels Finish in Sixth at Head of the Lagoon
11/13/2021 6:52:00 PM | Women's Rowing
FOSTER CITY, Calif. — Saint Mary's Women's Rowing took part in the annual Head of the Lagoon, their first time taking part in the race since the 2019 season. Saint Mary's put two boats in the water and recorded a sixth-place finish out of 10 boats, marking a successful end to the 2021 Fall semester.
The Gaels were able to score a pair of victories with their A-boat over schools that register as significant wins. Saint Mary's finished the 5k race 20 seconds faster than one of the University of Washington boats, and another 22 seconds faster than Humboldt State. That was an important win for Saint Mary's after the Gaels were defeated by Humboldt State in an exhibition earlier this year. The Gaels B boat did not finish the race.
Washington's top boat was the fastest of any boat in the water on Saturday, besting out one of their own boats and the Stanford lightweight boat. Saint Mary's was the only WCC school participating in the event.
RESULTS
1. Washington A – 17:59.1
2. Washington C – 18:10.5
