MBB | Gaels Return to Action on Saturday Versus Waves

MORAGA, Calif. — For the first time in three weeks, Saint Mary's will take the field as they travel down to Malibu to face Pepperdine on Saturday. The Gaels have missed their last six scheduled contests due to COVID-19 related precautions and procedures.
SMC currently on a two-game win streak after defeating Loyola Marymount and San Francisco in their first two road contests this season. The Gaels won both close games by four points to improve to 11-5 on the year.

ABOUT THE WAVES
Pepperdine is 9-8 this season and are 5-3 in conference play. The Waves are 5-1 against WCC teams not named Gonzaga and just recently had an impressive 8-point victory on the road at San Francisco.
Senior Colbey Ross is one of the best point guards on the West Coast and is averaging a team-best 17.2 points and 7.5 assists per game. Not to be overlooked is teammate Kessler Edwards who is scoring 17.1 ppg and is also a factor on the glass with over seven rebounds per game. The Waves are shooting 45 percent as a team and are one of the nation's top free throw shooting teams at 79 percent.
Fans will remember the Gaels and Waves last meeting which came in the quarterfinals of the WCC Championship in Las Vegas. Jordan Ford went toe-to-toe with Ross as the team's were locked even after regulation and went into two overtime periods to decide a victor. SMC would eventually emerge victoriously, 89-82, as Ford scored a career-high 42 points.
