SPOKANE, Wash. — Saint Mary's (11-7, 2-5 WCC) cleaned up their offense in the second half against the No. 1 Zags (22-0, 12-0 WCC) but couldn't upset the nation's top-ranked team inside McCarthey Athletic Center on Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Judah Brown had the best game of his young collegiate career as he put up 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting for the Gaels and was 4-of-6 from deep -- all personal bests. The freshman scored all 16 points in the final half and totaled 22 total minutes on the night. Brown had a plus-minus rating of +17 in the second half which was 10 greater than any other player in the game.
Logan Johnson added 13 and made half of his shot attempts, Matthias Tass scored 12, and Mitchell Saxen also had a career-best 10 points in just 16 minutes. Dan Fotu led the Gaels with six rebounds.
Saint Mary's performed much better in the second half of the game and outscored the Zags in the period, 41-36. SMC shot 53 percent in the final 20 minutes and were 5-of-9 from deep, largely thanks to the hot shooting of Brown.
