SB | Hannah Chew Earns WCC Player of the Week

SAN MATEO, Calif. — Senior catcher Hannah Chew has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after putting up big numbers at the plate last week against UC Davis and San Jose State.

Chew caught all five games for the Gaels during the week and had a stellar performance with the bat as well. The senior went 7-of-15 during the week, drove in five, and scored four times herself. Chew didn't strike out a single time in any of her 17 plate appearances and finished the week with a .467/.529/.733 slashline.

This season, Chew is third on the roster with a .312 batting average and leads the team in RBIs (7) and co-leads in base hits (11). She is one of six Gaels to start every single game so far this year.

Saint Mary's is currently 6-6, a three-win improvement compared to the team's first 12 games from last season. The Gaels will hit the road this week for a three-game series with Cal Poly over the weekend. More information can be found on the team's schedule page.
