

GOLF | Gaels Grab Fourth Place at Redhawk Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Saint Mary's used an all-around strong team effort to claim fourth place out of 15 teams at the Redhawk Invitational hosted at Chambers Bay Golf Course.
THE LEADERBOARD
Four of the five Gaels in head coach Scott Hardy's lineup finished in the top quartile of the 88-man competition. Ethan Farnam led the team and earned his second top-10 finish of the season by tying for eighth win a 1-under overall score. The senior shot an even par 72 in the final round.
Finishing just one stroke back and tying for 12th was Evan Peterson who was 1-over on Tuesday. Like Farnam, Peterson counted his scores in all three rounds and had the team's lowest score of the tournament with a 4-under par 68 in the second round.
Michael Slesinski and Blake Hathcoat each shot 71 in the final round, best on the team, and both Gaels tied for 19th at 2-over. Ethan Ashbrook rounded out the team's lineup t-55th as did the individual Dylan De Prosperis.
As a team, Saint Mary's was 1-over across the three rounds and finished just one stroke back of Utah for third place. The Gaels were 1-under on Tuesday which was the second best score of any team for the final round.
San Francisco won the tournament by shooting 14-under and finished seven strokes ahead of the runner-up Washington. USF's Soren Lind was the medalist with a 5-under score.

After playing two tournaments across the past six days, Saint Mary's will have a 10-day break and play next at El Macero Country Club for the El Macero Classic. The three-day event is hosted by UC Davis and begins on Apr. 10.
