GOLF | Saint Mary's Moves Up One Place at Lamkin SD Classic

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's jumped up one spot in the middle round of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic and now sit at 14th in the 20-team field heading into the final round on Wednesday.
THE LEADERBOARD
Blake Hathcoat had the best performance of the day for SMC by shooting 2-over which bumped him up to t-8th on the medalist leaderboard. The senior also had the team's best performance in the first round at 2-under.
Michael Slesinski shot 3-over in the middle round, a two-shot improvement over yesterday's total. Dylan VanderVeer and Ethan Farnam each counted their scores by going 4-over while Ethan Ashbrook shot 10-over on the day.
The Gaels had the 10th best team score of the day at 13-over and are now 25-over in the tournament. SMC remains within reach of a single-digit finish and is close behind two ranked opponents, No. 20 San Diego State (+18) and No. 26 Kansas (+20).
UCLA leads the field as the only school with an under par score at 1-under. Nevada trails behind at 8-over after two rounds and No. 22 New Mexico leapfrogged five spots on Tuesday to rest in third at 9-over.
Devon Bling from UCLA holds a three-stroke lead over the rest of the 112-man leaderboard going into Wednesday at 7-under par. Only seven competitors are under par after two rounds of play.
