SANTA CLARA, Calif. — After dropping the doubles point to Santa Clara and falling behind 3-0, Saint Mary's rallied in singles play to win four straight matches, take down the Broncos, and improve to 2-2 in West Coast Conference action. 

SCU won the doubles point by taking matches on Courts 2 and 3. The Gaels' top tandem of Mariia Kozyreva and Danielle McIntyre won the team's lone doubles match easily 6-1. 

Santa Clara's lead quickly expanded to 3-0 after two singles wins and the Broncos found themselves just one more win away from taking the match. 

McIntyre earned her second win of the day and gave SMC their first point with a straight set victory on Court 3, 7-5, 6-3. McIntyre's doubles teammate Kozyreva also earned a straight set win against the Broncos' top player Finley Kalinic to cut Santa Clara's lead to 3-2. 

Jocelyn Massey didn't give up after falling in her first set 6-2 and fought back with 6-1, 6-2 sets as the team's No. 5 player to tie the match up at 3-3. All eyes then settled on Court 4 where Gabriela Tevez was battling with Katherine Petty. 

Tevez took the first set 6-2 and then fell in a tiebreaker in the middle set. The sophomore took care of business in the last set of the day however with a dominating 6-0 result to win the match for the Gaels. 

Saint Mary's will play only one match next week - a Friday meeting in Moraga with the Pepperdine Waves. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
