SAN MATEO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference announced their All-WCC honors today with Saint Mary's picking up two awards. Highlighting the awards was Damon Kesaris' First Team selection in singles.
Kesaris picked up his third career First Team nod for singles after going 10-4 as the team's No. 1 singles player this spring. The senior ended the season on a four-match win streak and seven of his 10 wins came in straight sets. Kesaris was also ranked among the top-25 players in the nation to begin the season at No. 23.
Kesaris also earned First Team distinctions in 2017 and 2018 during his freshman and sophomore seasons. Last season, the South Africa native topped out at No. 9 in the ITA rankings and was named the ITA Northwest Region Senior Player of the Year.
Saint Mary's other all-conference selection was an honorable mention for the team's doubles tandem of James Watt and Boris Reckow. The duo competed in all but one match as SMC's top grouping and posted an 8-9 record during the spring. Watt and Reckow began the season with a win over No. 36 Paul Barretto/Can Kaya from California and also posted a five-match win streak early in the schedule.
The award for Watt is his second all-conference honor after earning a singles honorable mention during his freshman season in 2019. It was the first All-WCC selection for Reckow who is also a junior.
