WTEN | SMC Lands Four on WCC All-Academic Team

SAN MATEO, Calif. — In a challenging academic year for many students, the Saint Mary's Women's Tennis Team was able to succeed. The Gaels had four players named as WCC All-Academic Honorable Mentions. No team had more All-Academic Honorable Mentions and just two teams featured more All-Academic players.
Mariia Kozyreva was a star on the court for the Gaels, finishing with an 11-1 overall record and a 5-1 conference record. In the SMC community, this helped her become the Saint Mary's Female Athlete of the Year. The Senior History of Art major was also a star in the classroom with a 3.22 GPA.
Three other Gaels earned honorable mention nods from the conference. Graduate student Danielle McIntyre had a 3.85 GPA as a Business Administration major. Sophomore Gabriela Tevez has a 4.00 GPA, also as a Business Administration major. Senior Aubane Ville has a 3.54 GPA as a Kinesiology-Exercise Science major.
To make the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.20 grade point average while contributing significantly to their team.
