MORAGA, Calif. – A week full of career and game highs for SMC Women's Basketball player Tayla Dalton, has earned her the Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week Award.
Dalton had a career high 20 points and six three pointers at Montana State on Monday, and a game-high 18 points in a win at Pacific on Saturday.
The Auckland, New Zealand native went 6 of 10 from three-point range in her 20-point performance, keeping the Gaels alive against the Bobcats in Bozeman, Mont. She was 8 of 10 from the free-throw line in her 18-point game against the Tigers, while also dishing out five assists and collecting five rebounds in the WCC opener.
Dalton hit threes on back-to-back possessions with less than four minutes remaining to bring Saint Mary's to within four points of Pacific in their OT win. The Gaels had to navigate through injuries to Clair Steele and Taycee Wedin in their current stretch of road games, and Dalton stepped up big time to fill the void.
The junior guard has scored in double figures in three of her last five games, and tied her career high in rebounds earlier this season with eight at San Jose State and also pulled down seven boards at Boise State last week.
SMC Women's Basketball remains on the road to finish the calendar year, taking on USC, San Diego, and BYU in their next three games.
