BVB | Saint Mary's Receiving Votes in Preseason AVCA Beach Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball received eight votes in the 2022 AVCA Collegiate Beach Preseason Coaches Poll. This puts them at 22nd in the nation to start the season, after a quality 12-11 2021 season.
The poll includes many notable West Coast schools, including Pac-12 powerhouses USC (1), UCLA (2), Stanford (7), Cal (11), and Arizona (12). Other West Coast schools include conference rivals Loyola Marymount (4) and Pepperdine (14) as well as Cal Poly (8), and Long Beach (15).
Saint Mary's will have their hands full this season, taking on many top-20 schools throughout the year. The Gaels start off the year with the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic in Waikiki, Hawaii, facing No. 10 Hawaii, No. 2 UCLA, and No. 7 Stanford. Later in the season the Gaels will also see No. 15 Long Beach, No. 8 Cal Poly, No. 9 Grand Canyon, No. 11 Cal, No. 7 Stanford twice after the tournament in Hawaii.
The experienced Gaels will look to continue their success this year returning senior leaders Selbie Christensen, Chandler Cowell, Hawley Harrer, Jennifer "Boo" Laird, Jasmin Suarez, and Aeriel Sundt.
