MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Men's Tennis will compete against Sacramento State this upcoming Sunday for their 2022 official home opener of dual-match play. The Gaels only home match of the spring so far was an exhibition against American River College on January 19.

Saint Mary's Men's Tennis' first win in dual-match play remains elusive as the Gaels fell to UC Davis 6-1 last weekend.

The Gaels got a 6-4 doubles match win from
James Watt and
Caelan Potts over Andrei Volgin and Mitchell Davis, but the Aggies took two out of three to win the doubles competition.

Newcomer
Thibaud Maxant got a win in the singles portion, defeating Mitchell Davis 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The Gaels had three other singles matches go to three sets, including the second set of Pott's singles match, but the Aggies would take the other five matches.

ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE
Expectations were set high for the Hornets at the start of the season as Sacramento State were chosen second in the Big Sky Preseason Coach's Poll. The Hornets began the season 3-0 for the first time since 1999. More recently, Sacramento State fell in close match ups against UC Davis, 4-3, and San Francisco, 4-2.
