SAN JOSE, Calif. — After dropping one match on Friday at San Jose State, Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball made sure that wasn't going to happen again. Wrapping up a weekend of play against San Francisco and Oregon, the Gaels closed out the weekend strong with a pair of wins, beating San Francisco 4-1 and Oregon 3-2 to improve to 9-5 on the season, and 4-1 over the past week.
Match 1: Saint Mary's 4, San Francisco 1
Saint Mary's remained unbeaten in West Coast Conference play after taking down San Francisco 4-1 in the first match on Saturday morning.
Hawley Harrer and
Aeriel Sundt took care of business right out of the gate, including a 21-4 in the first game. After a loss in the fives, the Gaels won the remaining matches of the morning, with the top three pairs all taking care of business in two games.
Makenna Joyce and
Karmin Brown were particularly impressive, remaining perfect on the weekend with 21-7 and 21-11 wins over their counterparts in the threes.

The Gaels were able to snag a win from Oregon in the final pair, as both teams top pairs went to work to decide the outcome of the afternoon on the sand.
Jasmin Suarez and
Jennifer "Boo" Laird were awesome for the Gaels, winning 21-11 and 21-16 to secure a team win for SMC. Saint Mary's won the first two flights of the day to go up 2-0 overall, with the fours and five emerging victorious.
Hawley Harrer and
Aeriel Sundt continue to remain perfect as a pair, winning 21-19 and 21-18 to start the day, while
Ella Sandt and
Genevieve Bane won in the fives with an epic 28-26 battle in the second game, and a 15-8 win in the deciding third game.

Saint Mary's is back at home on Tuesday, March 22 for a doubleheader on their home sand. The Gaels square off against Feather River College and Sierra College in a doubleheader, with a neutral match in between against the JCs. Play begins at 12:00 pm with Feather River College and conclude sat 4:00 pm against Sierra.
