Saint Mary's Men's Tennis gave it their all against both University of Portland and Gonzaga University last week. Against the Pilots, the Gaels tied 2-2 before the Portland Pilots clinched a 4-2 win by taking the last two matches.
After Portland took the doubles point and the first singles match, the Gaels evened things up when Caelan Potts defeated Nocolas Ocana and James Watt outlasted Eleftherios Neos 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. But the Pilots took the next two matches to get the win
Following their competition against Portland, the No. 56 Gonzaga Bulldogs kept Saint Mary's Men's Tennis from pulling off an upset on the road as the Zags won 4-1 on Saturday.
The Gaels got a win from sophomore Mathis Moysan, as the transfer from the University of Kentucky defeated Sasha Trkuja 6-4, 6-2, to make it 3-1 Gonzaga before the home team put it away in the next match. James Wattwas ahead in the third set of his match when it was called after the dual match was decided.
